Since 2003, the Weidmüller Group has been merging all activities relating to education in the Weidmüller Academy. At the two locations in Germany and Asia, the focus is on the training of junior staff, the ongoing further qualification of employees and initiatives to build up knowledge within the company through qualified exchange with external organizations, universities and other partners in our networks.
The Weidmüller Academy is also committed to promoting various educational initiatives in the spirit of social responsibility. The focus is on strengthening the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and activities that arouse interest and enthusiasm for creativity, innovation and technology among young people. In 2019, the Weidmüller Academy supported almost 12,000 participants with qualification measures as well as 136 trainees and dual students.
The application of digital technologies and processes as well as their impact on the world of work and, in particular, learning, are the focus of our priority initiative "Education 4.0 - Our Path to the eAcademy".
Weidmüller gives young people an insight into the world of work while they are still at school, helping them to choose their future careers and study paths. Various training and study opportunities are available once they leave school. Under the umbrella of the Weidmüller Academy, we provide training in over ten technical and commercial professions, and we also offer dual courses of study at various universities. In this way, we give young people the chance to start their careers while ensuring that the company has outstandingly qualified employees. We also offer various opportunities for young academics to gain practical experience, be it internships, working student activities or degree theses. We support students taking their first steps into the practical world of work, while making sure that we have access to the latest research knowledge and new and committed young talent.
The Training Center is where the Weidmüller Academy develops and implements needs-based learning opportunities, taking into account the individual and methodological requirements for flexible learning. A central Learning Management System gives employees the opportunity to organise their training independently and to track their progress. The system also offers a wide range of mobile learning opportunities, giving participants the freedom to decide when and where they want to learn.
As a solution provider and reliable partner, we also offer our customers more and more opportunities to gain application-specific and product-specific knowledge through the Weidmüller Academy.
The Weidmüller Academy represents the company via active participation in innovative initiatives and various networks in the context of technology and education. The transfer of knowledge between academic research organisations and entrepreneurial technology development is maintained through continuous contact with local and international universities and institutions. The Weidmüller Academy is an active interface and partner in technology and education networks such as OWL Maschinenbau, it's OWl and Bildung 4.OWL. The Weidmüller Academy initiates and participates in cooperative scientific projects, and is a member of various committees such as the Automation Research Association in the ZVEI [Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association], Lippe Bildung e.G. or the Education Committee in the DIHK [Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce].
Personnel development at the Weidmüller Academy is based on the personal responsibility of our employees and promotes a learning culture of continuous individual development. Learning opportunities are available for every need, based on needs assessments that are supported by the latest proven methods of diagnostics, feedback and transfer evaluation.
